The Hamilton Wenham Committee for Tolerance
The Hamilton Wenham Committee for Tolerance was established in 2002 by a group of citizens from Hamilton and Wenham to promote acceptance and respect for the diversity in our communities. The mission of the Committee is to support programs which educate our communities about prejudice and discrimination. “Not In Our Town” is the national program adopted by the Committee to be used as the framework for the activities that promote peace and justice. We are grateful that both towns officially support the Hamilton Wenham Committee for Tolerance in its commitment to these ideals.
The Committee for Tolerance sponsors the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Vigil and annually grants a scholarship to a deserving Hamilton Wenham Regional High School graduating senior and/or resident of Hamilton or Wenham who best exemplifies a commitment to diversity. The Committee supports and sponsors other educational programs and events bringing our communities together so that we can work together to have a healthy, safe and diverse community.
Membership on the Hamilton Wenham Committee for Tolerance is open to all residents of Hamilton and Wenham. Hamilton – Wenham residents are welcome to attend meetings and encouraged to join the Committee. Hamilton- Wenham residents who are not members may participate in all meetings. Interested residents of other communities may attend to observe meetings.
The Hamilton Wenham Committee for Tolerance meets once a month. The Committee usually meets the third Monday of the month at the Hamilton Wenham Community House, 284 Bay Road, S. Hamilton at 7:30 pm.
